After freshening up in your glorious multi-headed waterfall shower you waltz into your art deco lounge, push a button to open the curtains and await your room service on your plush leather sofa.
A private chef then arrives and proceeds to cook you a personalised breakfast in your fully stocked kitchen which is then served on your marble table in your dining room.
This is not your home.
This is the Principal Tibidabo Suite of El Palauet Living Barcelona.
Only six suites big, this boutique hotel is the newest in an upcoming trend where hotels provide not just a space, but a home for travellers. Wanting to deliver something special to the highflying go-getters of the world, they have delivered something truly unique and special. This Modernisme building built in 1906 was designed by the architect Pere Falqués, a contemporary of the famous Antoni Gaudí (whose acclaimed Sag Rasa Familia is nearby). Renovated in 2010.
Fitted with designer furniture from a long list of legends such as Warren Platner, Eero Saarinen and Antonio Citterio living is pretty swanky. Niche high-end luxuries such as Sant Aniol bottled water, Aveda cosmetics in the bathroom, eco friendly slippers and cute laundry hampers are scattered throughout. This place actually has everything.
Then there is the automation – a fully electronic sound and lightening system, centrally controlled by iPads throughout the house. My favourite feature: the sleep function – one press and all the lights go off. In the bathroom, there are movie star-styled lights around the mirror, which you can turn off with an air kiss. Just kidding – you have to press it. But it is cute anyways. Upstairs there is a beautiful terrace with a bar, loungers and all sorts of beautiful lush botanicals.
But enough about the apartment, lets get to the good stuff. BREAKFAST. I ordered room service of course (I got in at 1am – I wasn’t going anywhere!). Get this.. because you have your own private kitchen, a personal chef comes in and cooks it for you on the spot. So what did I get? Well of course I got ERRYTHANG. Fried eggs on the most beautiful artisan multigrain bread I have ever eaten, a detox carrot juice and a Nespresso coffee.
Could living get any better?![line]
